Company Fuck & John Deneuve present
The Limited League of Wannabes Exhibition
Opening Friday 9th September / 19h
Exhibition 10th September to 16th September
Welcome to the working space of two Superheroes. Well, a space where they are trying to be Superheroes. Or Superstars. Or Super-artists. Here you will learn about their rigorous training schedule, what they eat, what they sing, what they poo. They don’t live like the rest of us – they dwell in a dramatically lit world of wigs and lycra tights where ordinary household objects can become non-deadly Superweapons. Trying and trying again to be what they wannabe, their lives seem to be just a series of disappointments and failures. Or are they are just acting dumb? Their deliberate idiocy could be an absurd reaction to an understanding of serious concepts, somehow reflecting a part of our society. Or maybe just being dumb is much more fun.
At “The Limited League of Wannabes” the works of Company Fuck and John Deneuve will collide together as an art of accidents, crashing at the boundaries of good-taste, art and non-art, critique and pastiche.
Company Fuck is Scott Sinclair, an audiovisual artist, performer, and programmer who creates aggressive and humorous collages of different media to form highly interdisciplinary outcomes. As Company Fuck, he simultaneously performs and parodies the roles of DJ, MC, singer, and dancer in an irreverent yet loving way which satirizes musicians, the music business, and music in general. From pop/noise sound collages to custom-made costumes, Company Fuck presents a futuristic approach that transcends the limitations of good musicianship and good-taste.
John Deneuve is a multidisciplinary artist working with music, performance, drawing, video and installation art. Driven by a tangy electro-pop energy and drawing from the world of her childhood, her work plays to a sense of false innocence, which in turn furiously questions the rigid codes of the contemporary world. Although the nature of her work is constantly shifting, she maintains in using absurdity and humor to express her unique view on how our society is organized. She lives and works in Marseille, France.
