“Black MIDI” is currently blowing my musical mind. Online nerds (probably Asian teenagers, bless them) take midi files of old songs, add millions of extra notes, and then feed the files into guitar-hero-style piano programs. They ‘compete’ amongst each other to see who can add the most notes. The music sounds completely insane, or sometimes just glitches to a halt – and it looks just super! Black MIDI is sometimes also called “Impossible Music”.
