exhibition in Brisbane (Australia) with Ross Manning.
Ross Manning (who may be better known to some of you as 4 layers of 9) will be in Brisbane this coming weekend, performing, and also exhibiting some of his sound sculputres at the White House gallery. Desribed on the flyers circulating around town presently as being "held together by blu tac coz he's too wasted to use glue", these lo fi kinetic beasts will be first introduced to the public at their debutant ball, on friday 21st of april from 6-9pm. If you prefer to go to art galleries rather than art openings, you'll get your chance on saturday & sunday of the same weekend, (22-23rd april, 11am - 6pm). Ross will also be performing alongside Hrvatski at the Shamrock hotel on the evening of the 22nd. Details for that here: http://www.halftheory.com/index.php?go=calendar&id=78

Para conseguirlo combina ruido digital, sampleados de baterías y gritos desafinados grabados en los karaokes australianos más divertidos. Se dice de él que es una mezcla de Napalm Death con Destiny's Child y Nihil Fist.

Crossroads (Bruce Connor, 1975, USA)
Music by Patrick Gleeson and Terry Riley.
"Conner bases his film on government footage of the first underwater A-bomb test, July 25, 1946, at Bikini Atoll in the Pacific. Recorded at speeds ranging from normal to super slow motion, the same explosion is seen 27 different times - from the air, from boats and land-based cameras; distant and close-up. The opening segment emphasizes the awesome grandeur of the explosion - the destructiveness, as well as the dramatic spectacle and beauty. As the repetition builds, however, the explosion is gradually removed... Read more

This will be the first show Gyanism have done since Scotty fled for distant shores, and may well mark the begining of their transformation into the Brisbane experimental scene's answer to Spinal Tap. Let's hope so.
