Concert in Lan Franchis 144 cleveland st, chippendale with Robin Fox, up from sunny Melbourne - Laptop (absolutely), Timpanis (maybe...), GYANISM (Joel Stern, Daiji Igarashi and Yusuke Akai), Adam Park, solo reel to reel tape machines.
Joel Stern (Brisbane) spends his time making music, writing, organising concerts and screenings, and studying for his MA. He has performed throughout Europe, Japan, New Zealand and at the major experimental music events in Australia, using a combination of modified instruments, electronics, custom microphones, feedback devices, and field recordings. Joel currently plays in free noise bands 'impromptulons', 'sunshine has blown' and 'gyanism', and collaborates with whoever else happens to be around. In between, he co-runs the record label 'naturestrip', the activities of 'otherfilm' and the radio show 'audiopollen' on 4zzz.
Daiji Igarashi (Hiroshima) works with freedback, sinwaves, his voice, guitar and other instruments. His live performances, mainly in Brisbane, have confounded audiences with their strange, atmospheric and subtle intensity.
Yusuke Akai (Tokyo) is currently negotiating for a peace treaty between his institutionalised-music background and the more disorderly approaches in his personal music making. Although comfortable on many intruments, for this tour Yusuke will focus on guitar, amps, effect pedals, cables etc.
