Jodi Rose partially eclipses old technology!

Audiopollen 07/06/06

Audiopollen 07/06/06 11pm 4ZZZ 102.1FM Brisbane

Tonight we had two awesomely talented sound artists grace the airwaves with their sounds and play some of their favourite tracks.

Camilla Hannan, current Brisbane resident, regular contributor to the Liquid Architecture series and constructor of More Songs About Factories - an album constructed from factory sounds that IMHO is the link between "Chain Reaction" style minimal techno and electro-acoustic music.

Jodi Rose, of the Singing Bridges project that not only attempts to document the sound of bridges throughout the world but also landed her the Smarty Blog award for her travel diaries.

Plague Dr. Schnabel in the house! (courtesy of wikipedia)

Audiopollen 31 May 2006

A mixed journey through various sounds.

Utterly Vacant by Plague Doctor (demo) plugging Listen Little Man3

Tonight we focused on the Tonschacht label from Cologne, Germany who sent us a brilliant package consisting of twenty 7" records. Oh happy day! Tonschacht grew out of a drone, noise, strangeness club night in the late 90's.  The catalogue has a nice antipodean influence with releases by rosy parlane and minit, but you know them (don't you?) so we played some of the stuff you haven't heard before (or have you?).

my life's been nothing like this recently, so i haven't been posting as much as i would normally.

(no longer) all quiet on the western (suburbs) front

(lots of news & links here, please bear with me....)
sorry for prolonged silence from this department,  we have been busy celebrating the return of justice to the eurovision song contest, following finland's magnificent besuited victory.  hopefully the rest of the world will take note & follow (in) suit(s) before too long.  so, my prediction is that while next year's eurovision will be awesome to watch, some really bland piece of crap will win.  you heard it here first.  big ups to company fuck for being in europe and actually voting this time round.
but you're probably in brisbane, right?
so.  just a quick note to let y'all know about a few forthcoming events in the bris reigon over the next wee while.
tommorrow (wednesdsy 31st of may) you could go and see catatonic mormon popsters low at the zoo.  I/O3 support.  or you could stay home and listen to jamie's yearly airing of the full "pink  lady... Read more

all define a type of sort inaudible

Incidental Amplifications got a review from Mathias in French at Infratunes

http://www.infratunes.com/chronique-album_22373_V_A%20::room40::_Incidental%20Amplifications.html

Translation below comes via http://www.freetranslation.com/free/web.asp
Not sure that this is a good translation but it certainly is funny!

Incidental Amplifications, amplified musics according to the hazards of the market, other definition of the field recording, on the whole. Be fourteen pieces here collected by Lawrence English and Lloyd Brisbane.

The compilation revolves around the sound incidentel, and constructs itself around a reflection non-théorisée (one always is in position : this is the clean one field recording, in a way) on the surgissement of the unexpected... Read more
