V/Vm starts working for Warp
I just received this from the evergreen, yet tireless, V/Vm. I'm so glad that all of his years giving music away for free is finally going to pay off.

Re: UK product assistant at Warp
Hello Sir Whippy-Warpy-Warpers,
i would like to offer my services to you in a working capacity as i love to work hard and think i could turn help turn things around at Warp.
Your main man Stevie Buscuit will know me from back in the days when Warp used to release cutting edge audio and i am sure will welcome my input as your all new and shiny UK Product assistant as unlike most of the cocaine snorters you employ i actually know a little bit about the progression of the U.K. electronic music scene. As i am currently winding my own operation down for a little while i figure this job opportunity is the one for me and i can start on January... Read more

6.30pm - 10pm
Visible Ink, 54 Berwick St, Fortitude Valley.
The last Community Draw of the year!
A hand-made film workshop with local filmmaker Sally Golding. Scratch, draw, slop, stick and gouge your very own hand made film work. Create an animation film loop or a short visual aperitif! Be inspired by exotic aural atmospheres as local sound experts invite you to respond to their array of sonic field recordings.
Handmade film or 'direct filmmaking' has historically been one of the key strategies for abstracting cinema, dissenting from traditional modes of cinematic creation in order to generate unwieldy voids of pure expression. In the tradition of Stan Brakhage, Len Lye, Harry Smith and many more,... Read more

NMATAPE reissues complete
NMATAPES, the essential series of compilations documenting Australian experimental music that ran from 1982-92, is now available in full for free download or on CDR from Shame File Music.
NMATAPE 10, originally released on cassette in 1992, completes the series. Of particular interest here is "Changing The Subject" by Machine For Making Sense, a veritable super group featuring Chris Mann, Jim Denley, Rik Rue, Amanda Stuart & Stevie Wishart. Also included is a vocal performance by the late Jas H. Duke, as well as tracks by Caroline Wilkins, Stelarc, Alistair Riddell and others.
Each edition of the series is available from http://ShameFileMusic.com for free download, or on CDR for AU$8ppd (US$6ppd) (with the exception of NMATAPE 4, which is slightly more expensive as it is a double CDR) or for trade. Abject Leader live reviews from Rave and Time OFF
CHICKS ON SPEED, BATRIDER, ABJECT LEADER
The Zoo: 24.11.06
Walking from the bright lights of Ann St into the darkness of the Zoo and Abject Leader's deep and low pulse, one can't help but feel like they have entered a Lynch-ian diorama. The stage is cluttered with archaic tape reels feeding into each other and small clumps of miscellaneous noise-making equipment, while quivering stills play on the multi-media screen. (jesus h christ, rave magazine)
With local experimentalists Abject Leader, there's always a new interesting twist to their spontaneous soundscape. With the special guest Jamie Hume's vocal sounding like Mark E Smith standing in a shower of bricks, Abject Leader's mess of sound and vision resemble a mosaic of shattered sound phrases stuck together with sticky tape that resembles Bruce Russell and Angus Maclise, with the bent electronics and minimal brass percussion. Karaoke Bedlam
Joe Musgrove and Lloyd Barrett join a cavalcade of Brisbane arty-farts to breathe new death into the art of Karaoke. This is a multi-artist multi-disciplinary installation featuring individual works that cover a broad range of modern artistic practice.
Above a railway station, opposite a $1 dollar peep show, and up a flight of moonshine stained stairs, Karaoke Bedlam tunnels into the back-alleys of Chinatown's subcultural underground, and takes over a Korean karaoke club. For one fleeting night, 'Don't Tell Mama' becomes an immersive labyrinthine dungeon of audio-visual installation, screenings, and costumed performance.
It's on from 10pm till Late Saturday 2nd December 2006 at "Don't Tell Mama" which is a cool little Karaoke joint just up the road from The Globe cinema on Brunswick St.
