Brigitte Bardot Pond

Hi All
Well this posting is a bit overdue so without much further ado...
Tonight at The Globe, cost $6,is the third part of OtherFilmFestival 2(?).
>From 6:30PM in the foyer The Aquaverse - Installations & Interactions
continues with Fish Video(a tribute to the recently deceased Nam June
Paik),a soundscape by Lawrence English & Sarah-Jane Woulahan's" Views From
The Inside Part 1 - Love Diesx3" & Tara Cook of Sydney's "Stuttering
Equivalence,or Why I Never Liked The Young-Drunk Exquisite Corpse"
>From 7-10:30PM in The Theatre longstanding Australian experimental film
makers Arthur & Corinne Cantrill will be re-enacting their films for which
no dealer is required.
In another part of The Theatre from 8:30-midnight is Light And Sonic
Expansion 2 Botborg,Jim Knox's "Cortical Landlord After Compost",Lindsay
Martin,NZ's The Rejuvenation Loops & anti-rock duo Dada-Meinhof with Danni
Zuvela & Tina Blakeney.
With all those rumblings & flashing lights you would probably end up doing
the Ian Curtis dance if you're epileptic.
Also at The Powerhouse in the first of the recently re-activated Brissie
electronica label Trans:Com from their 8PM is the first in their
Silhouette Series which is a tribute to the robot man who at times could
have been mistaken for a mannequin,Gary Numan.
It features a retrospective put together by Simon Roots & performances by
Andy Bagley,Taiyo & The Isle doing Numan covers among their own stuff.
Sunday the 26th is the final part of OFF 2 at the Cube Galleria,15 Tribune
St,Southbank, free entry & complimentary drink which will feature the film
created by five billion people at the workshop the day before that would
give Leonard Matlin an aneurysm;Paul Sharits' "Razor Blades",The Lost
Domain who would be The Swamp-Thing's favourite band if he had electricity
improving away to their hearts content to Dirk De Bryn's "Memorium";a very
special one-off performance by yours truly(classified, official secrets
act, etc.,so there) & general audience free-for-all at the end which would
make The MC5's "Black To Comm" raveups seem like bubblegum pop.
Also that night at The Troubadour is a rare performance by not-rock group
Bloon who make both The Lost Domain & The Perfect Lovers seem like
regeular giggers with a solo set from Shuriken's Leon J. Dufficy.
Well time to get back into it again.
Take care
Be seeing you
love
Jamie("Brisbane leftfield shows, like buses,avant-garde releases in the Zed
hotbin & rare Doctor Who books, all turn up at once")
PS in the 15/03/06 posting "Napalm Death In June" I asked what other J.G.
Ballard adaptations have there been apart from Steven Spielberg's "Empire
Of The Sun" & David Cronenberg's "Crash"?The answers(A)TV:"Thirteen To
Centaurus"('Out Of The Unknown'BBC anthology series,65)($);"Home"(UK,03).
(B)FILM:"Minus One"(short,US,91);"Ten Monolgues From The Lives Of Serial
Killers"(Netherlands,94);"The Atorcity Exhibition"(US,00) & "Low Flying
Aircraft"(Sweden/Porugal,02).Currently in production is a version of "High
Rise" written & directed by Vincenzo Natali which is due for release
sometime this year.
This time:How are Annie Lennox & Franz Kafka connected?
(?)The first OFF took place at the QCA from August 12-15,2004.
($)Considering BBC "archiving" policy up until 1978 it's amazing that it's
survived. Now how about a DVD issue?
