Recast your ears at     MASH OUT NEW MUSIC   A creative music series at The Toff In Town

 Melbourne's newest live performance venue is set to a host a creative music series that brings together Australia's leading innovative musicians and performers.

MASH OUT New Music transcends musical styles with a mission to merge experimental soundscapes, noise, electroacoustic composition, jazz, sci-fi beats, new media installation, laptop exploration and contemporary improvisation.

Located just above Cookie, overlooking bustling Swanston St, the series will take innovative music out of the concert hall and into the boutique intimacy of The Toff's stunning new performance space.       With an exciting program of music already featuring Australia's most internationally renowned sound-makers, MASH OUT will begin presenting a monthly program of eclectic and unique performances, hosting genre-crossing collaborations and especially commissioned premier works.

   MASHOUT is launched THURSDAY JUNE 21ST at 8PM with a bursting lineup featuring a special Melbourne performance from renowned duo PATERAS/FOX, comprising laptop artist ROBIN FOX with Tzadik composer and pianist ANTHONY PATERAS, fresh from touring Europe and premiering new work for the MSO. Also performing is US expat DAVID SHEA, a seminal New York downtown composer and musician (Mr Bungle, John Zorn, Marc Ribot, Mike Patton, Zeena Parkins). He will be premiering an epic work featuring live projections and sound collage.

 The evening will begin with the exquisite textures of treasured local improviser STEPHEN MAGNUSSON in rare solo guitar mode. Not to be missed. Along for the ride will be the distinguished DJ's OREN AMBARCHI and NERVOUS JERK (RRR), playing rare and strange sounds throughout the night.
