5pm-late Entry by Donation (suggestion $5 but noone turned away)
Dear friends and lovers of experimental film and sound,
Can you believe that May is practically here? Us neither...
Despite our disbelief, we thought it might be nice to have a little get-together to mark the passing of the summer season and a couple of other milestones. It's time for another AudioPollen Social Club (15 & counting!) - and a big birthday of self-confessed APSC tragic & 1/3 of OtherFilm, Danni (so NOT counting) - so that means it's time for some numinous noises and pataphysical projections....
We hope you'll come, and lend your ears our wonderful musical acts:
the s*xy-sweet melodies of Dollface; the reverberant reverie of post-believers No Guru; the tantalising femme-harmonics of the Southall/Spencer/Pesu Choir; the magic mayhem of mad minstrels The Lost Domain; and god-only-knows-what from the master of surprises, TAD Clearwater Revival...Kick back with groovy breaks in the breaks by HonkyKong, and enjoy a chance to recline & absorb the glorious 'drones & tones' of In The Valley Everyday There Is A Window Broken. Musics are all accompanied by candy-coloured alchemy and effervescent efflorescences from Dimensional Research Corporation with special live drawing projections from very special guest Briony B...of course Le Cmmndr will also be there to guide you throug the evening with his witty banter and obtuse pick-up lines (has one of these ever worked, jamie?)
DVD program starts early so get there before sundown for your seat to a faves 'n raves selection including the (eat-sh*t-google-earth) Powers of Ten; Czech surrealist thrills in Jiri Barta shorts; handworked feminist film by Naomi Uman; those wacky folks at Wonder Show Zen and some tasty Wholphin treats - as well as a very special peek at some of the offerings from OtherFilm Bazaar....
...all of this AND a luscious psychospectacular 16mm film program by Stan Brakhage (Dante Quartet), Pat O'Neil (Sidewinder's Delta), Norman McLaren (Mosaic), Gunvor Nelson (Take Off) and more...
So pull on your party shoes, leave the car at home & come and commune with us as we celebrate with some awe-inspiring audiovisual arcana. As one era contracts, another begins to expand...
