your beverage containment unit experiences a volume related crisis

Ok kids time to get your ignorant arses edumacated on a very serious piece of Australian avant culture history.

I was introduced to the work of Melbourne sound /performance poet Jas H Duke by my uncles's partner Thalia (with a swift clip round the ear and a verbal dressing down for being such an ignorant young poseur) whilst visiting them in Wollongong early last year.

Duke has a very strong claim to being one of Australia's greatest ever exponents of this form, and you can check the veracity of this claim at ubuweb, where they've just posted a collection of his works entitled "poems of life & death", courtesy of Melbourne poet Pi-o (to whom i apologise  for being insuffieciently tech-savvy to display the 'pi' symbol in his name) and Collective Effort press.

The works range from political & personal rants, to pure sound poetry, and frequently touch on absolute hilarity.  The title of this entry is from his translation of Psalm 23 ("the lord is my shepard, I shall not want..") into the language of a financial analyst.  Killer.

Thanks to Collective Effort for getting this stuff out tyhere, and to Clinton Green for bringing it to my attention.

Collective Effort seem to have no web presence, but you can reach them, and get access to their excellent range of small press publications through:
