Von Crapp reviews:
"... the night belonged to the Von Crapp Family. Gary Butler, whose business card states his profession as 'guitar, toys and stupidity' plays his guitar with all sorts of found objects such as egg beaters, chopsticks, radios, ping-pong balls, twigs, toothbrushes, socks and files. His sons, Daniel, 8, and Lee, 14, mindlessly bash away on the drums and read from the Bible, while his wife, Cathy, makes fart noises with her tongue and whizzy sounds with toys. For the finale, Butler hacked apart a guitar with a pickaxe. He may have looked like a serial killer, but this was about controlled chaos." (The Age, 23  Feb 2004, rev. of Melbourne "What Is Music? Festival)

"BIZAM! All up in my grill with a confrontation with what I think were the Von Crapp family who had a kid in industrial earmuffs, a mum in vocal pain, a dad in overalls and a powerdrill v guitar and their 'brother' golfing an old Apple into 'musical' death. I called my mum to tell her I love her." (BRAG, 26/03/05 rev. of Sydney "What Is Music Onathon")
