feedback driven trumpet. not even remotely by Joel Stern, but not entirely unlike something he might do...

other film festival photos & more...

The delightful Kath O' Donnell has been kind enough to post the photos she took of OFF here: http://flickr.com/photos/aliak_com/tags/otherfilmfestival/ She says that there will also be video footage coming.  Thanks Kath!!! Kath's website here: http://www.aliak.com

In other OFF related artist news....
Melbourne based animator, visual artist & expanded cinema performer Pia Borg has just won a 12 month scholarship to "study and develop her artistic capacities, skills and talents outside of Australia".  Nice work if you can get it.  You can see Pia's fantastic stop-motion animation film "Footnote" (with sound design by Joel Stern & music by Anthony Pateras), by downloading it from here: http://www.unisa.edu.au/samstag/Extras/media/piab_download.zip

Brisbane based animator, installationiser and international woman of mystery, Van Sowerwine has justed added a blog to her website : http://www.vansowerwine.com/ . She's been running it about 2 days as of this post, so there's not really a hell of a lot there yet....  For those of you who don't know, Van is one of those artists who is much better known outside Brisbane than within it, with her films having been screened at festivals such as Cannes & Sundance, and her installations also exhibited internationally.  She was most recently seen in Brisbane performing as part of "Vanilla" with Camilla Hannan at Other Film Festival.  You can play with interactive quicktime movies of some of Van's installations here: http://www.vansowerwine.com/installation/installation.html#sharper
Alternatively, if your friends are dropping kids at the rate that mine seem to be, you might find this of use: http://www.flickr.com/photos/whiney/sets/72057594089271535/

A nice piece of work for trumpet & electronics by Joel Stern (of Abject Leader) can had for the asking courtesy of Mattin's website: http://www.hecanjog.com/mattin/Joel_Sern_DDtrumpet.ogg
(his name's been spelt wrong in the file name, poor love, but I'm sure he's coping.)
there's lots of other interesting music here too, including tracks by Mattin (both solo and in various collaborations including Sakada, with Eddie Prevost), Anthony Guerra & Billy Bao to name but a few...check all this free shit out here: http://www.mattin.org/desetxea.html and for more free shit courtesy of Mattin, including works by Julien Ottavi, Bruce Russell, Lionel Marchetti & Jerome Noetinger,  plus more, go here: http://www.mattin.org/recordings.html or here: http://www.mattin.org/discography.html or if you don't trust free things from strangers, get something more closely resembling information about Mattin here:  http://www.mattin.org/
or see the trumpet in the picture do its thang here: http://web.media.mit.edu/~roberto/trumpet/Trumpet-simplefeedback-sor.mov
