The last Community Draw of the year!

A hand-made film workshop  with local filmmaker Sally Golding. Scratch, draw, slop, stick and gouge your  very own hand made film work. Create an animation film loop or a short visual  aperitif! Be inspired by exotic aural atmospheres as local sound experts  invite you to respond to their array of sonic field recordings.

Handmade  film or 'direct filmmaking' has historically been one of the key strategies  for abstracting cinema, dissenting from traditional modes of cinematic  creation in order to generate unwieldy voids of pure expression. In the  tradition of Stan Brakhage, Len Lye, Harry Smith and many more, handmade film  is a free form way to approach the moving image, previous
experience not  necessary!

Workshop  Schedule
6.30pm: Introduction to handmade film. Discussion of techniques  and exploration of materials.
7.30pm: Presentation of selected field  recordings by local artists Lawrence English, Lloyd Barrett, Ian McIntyre,  Andrew Thompson, Joe Musgrove and Joel Stern. Create handmade film works in response to the inspiring and  mysterious soundscapes!
9.30pm: Wind-up of workshop. Collation of films for  projection.
10pm: Blasting onto the screen, the films created by workshop  participants will boggle the mind and tickle the senses. Accompanied by  selected field recordings and live sonic collaborations.
