Terminal Quartet
ANDREW GARTON (Melbourne) with ANDREW KETTLE (Brisbane), ANDY BAGLEY (Brisbane) and PAUL ABAD (Sunshine Coast)
The Terminal Quartet was originally conceived by composer/producer Andrew Garton and video artist John Power as a means to define software as instrument, both in an audible and visual context. The Quartet performs structured improvisations. Performers research and arrange individual movements in isolation from each other as governed by the context and structure of Garton's compositions.
Andrew Garton is an internationally respected composer, performer and producer working within an interdisciplinary context since the late 70s. His compositions and performances are minimalist by nature and generative in actuation. Commissioned sound works and performances have taken him throughout Europe and Asia. He is co-founder of c2o/Toy Satellite and Secession Records.
Andrew Kettle is a Brisbane sound artist / sound designer. Kettle's recording material dates to 1993, with several CD releases, compositional scores, installations and performances. His work has received extensive radioplay nationally and through numerous community radio stations around Australia.
Andy Bagley pounded onto the Electronic Arena in 1989 with a band called "pure bunk", signed to German Label Machinery. Andy has releases under other names such as Hammerhead, VISI, and whatever else felt right at the time. He has done numerous remix/production work for local/major international artists.
Paul Abad is a 25-year-old Sunshine Coast multimedia developer and new media artist. His main focus now is on web design with flash, including generative art and integration with dynamic data.
