The Slippery Roger
The Slippery Roger delivers an incendiary thrust to the frontal lobes with all the subtlety of an ice-pick lobotomy. This solo electro-punk cabaret artist unashamedly unleashes the power of crapbox teknologies upon the world. Having recently returned from the critically ignored 'too crap for Canada tour' the Slippery Roger is back in Australia working on material in collaboration with the enigmatic 'Bastard Boy' for the upcoming album.
The Slippery Roger emerged from the ashes of 'CrapBox and Friends' a short-lived collective electro-experimental project formed during mid 1999. The Slippery Roger was the moniker given to the person who arranged the diverse and divergent sounds of the crapbox into several absurd compositions that had all the melodic spasticity of a bad porn soundtrack. Based on these sessions two EPs were independently released - The Repetitious EP (February 2000) and The Bite EP (April 2000).
Controversial, obscure and somewhat bizarre, the media has described The Slippery Roger as:
?A one-man universe of pain.? [Timeoff (Brisbane), July 2002]
?A curious and fantastic combination of chopping ambience, digital hardcore and industrial (think Aphex Twin in a blender with Skinny Puppy, and can the euphemisms here, I'm not talking metaphorically!), drawing the listener into a hypnotised state of dancing despite themselves.? [OzMusic Project, September 2002]
Performances mix absurdity and primitive egoism, "Whether you loved him or hated him, you didn't dare look away. The Slippery Roger is the most exciting artist out of Brisbane at the moment, and he's a must to see live!" [OzMusic Project, September 2002].
